Winner/Bonus Shot/NCC/And Other News

And the winner is….

For an unprecedented second win in a row it’s Capitalist Lion Tamer with…. “In other news, the FDA has just released a statement on acceptable phpm (pubic hairs per million) levels in organic produce.” The phpm won it out. Who among us doesn’t love that image?

Bonus Shot….

Ahhh, the Med! Unfortunately, this photo was taken just off a highway. There’s a soft shoulder and then …well this. They don’t believe in guardrails here. It’s their way of eliminating chronic drunk drivers.

New Caption Contest….

Friday afternoon Jimbo finally came to understand how powerful this law of attraction stuff really is. Next week on the curriculum; the harsh reality of gravity.

You guys know the drill, just beat CLT’s caption for an amazing azure link, international recognition and a free copy (you’ll have to attract it though) of The Secret.

In other news April 1st marks one year for me in this hobby/craft of blogging. I can’t believe I’ve lasted this long. Twice as long as 4 of my marriages in fact. I’ve met some of the coolest, funniest people to ever walk the earth along the way…and I just wanted to say thank you… I love you all. Here comes Kayne West so I better wrap it up.

Also I’m quitting smoking again on April 1st, for the last time, I promise. So send me some good, peaceful vibes and some morphine please.

  1. But do the fags keep your creative locus alight?

Entry to follow, when I’ve got one to stop CLT!

Comment by Dave Hambidge | March 31, 2010 | Reply

    • No, I had stopped for a year and only started again at the end of August, so I definitely don’t need them. I may not be on top of my game for a week, but after that I’ll sort myself out.

I hope you come back with a good one. If anyone needs stopping it’s CLT.

      Thanks Dave!!

  2. Kicking the habit huh? KUDOS! I want you to live long enough so that I can see you blogging about dentures and depends, so this makes me very happy. 🙂

    Good luck Scott!!

    • I’m going to beat the shit out of it Candice. I can’t wait till I see your elder years blogs either. Oh what joy we will have discussing diapers, ED, liver spots and all manner of suppositories!

      Thanks Candice!!

  3. Good for you, quitting smoking. I quit 8 years and 2 days ago actually. Just replace it with another habit that’s less deadly 😉

Those are the coolest flames I’ve ever seen on a truck. So realistic! I’ll try to think of a caption and come back.

    Comment by Mrs. D | March 31, 2010 | Reply

    • Wow congratulations D, that’s amazing. I still have my gambling, and opiate addictions to fall back on…thank God, right? No it was really easy when I quit for a year, I just made the mistake of deciding I was going to ‘go really light’ after a year.

      I’ll see you in a minute…I hope.

      Thanks Mrs. D!!

  4. ‘phpm’ !!! oh that was brilliant

congrats on the one year, I’m so glad I found you – you often make me smile or think or laugh out loud or all three at once although that makes me dizzy

“TMZ reports that a thin dark haired woman was seen running from the scene, no evidence that it was Sandra but …”

    Comment by dianne | March 31, 2010 | Reply

    • Making pretty girls dizzy has been the name of my game since the early 80’s. Glad to see I still have my touch!

I never even ‘saw’ Jesse in this till you brought it up. Brilliant!

      Thanks Dianne!!

  5. Love the bonus shot! Are you going cold turkey with the cigarettes or do you use patches, gum, Zyban…..?

    Comment by nursemyra | March 31, 2010 | Reply

    • I’ll use the gum for a day or two then just go cold turkey. I wish I had some kind of pharmaceutical. Then again I always wish that…

      Thanks Nursemyra!!

Comment by Scott Oglesby | April 1, 2010 | Reply

    • Actually it’s been 16 hours now so I changed my mind and am going cold turkey. Why stretch it out?

      • I know Susi, I did just quit for an entire year, and decided I’d start up again for fiesta season, when we were getting a bunch of visistors who smoke and drank. Now I regret it…but I just gotta get through a couple days and I’ll be jogging up mountains again!

Comment by Scott Oglesby | April 1, 2010 | Reply

    • That was hilarious. Is that like a Candid Camera type show? I’ll download one or two, it looks pretty funny.

  8. Congrats to CLT! Great caption. Congrats to you, Mister Oglesby, and good-luck in your battle with the cigarette. I myself have pledged off crack . . . because it’s so easy when you never tried it! Your blog is inspiring, and your wit, it be amazing! Rock on my brother. I’ll dream up a caption soon.

Comment by Dan McGinley | April 1, 2010 | Reply

    • Thanks for all those compliments Dan. You’ve never tried crack? That’s whack. It’ll instantly give you loads more energy and motivation. The motivation is of course for more crack but that’s beside the point.

      Thanks Dan!!

Comment by Scott Oglesby | April 1, 2010 | Reply

      • Okay my fellow crackhead bro, here’s my caption:

“While Toyota’s deadly technical problems continue to make front page news, American companies conduct business as usual, like trying to address a few short circuit issues in the fuse box of certain truck models . . .”

Sorry, Scott. I’m long-winded tonight on good Columbian (coffee).

Comment by Dan McGinley | April 1, 2010 | Reply

        • No need to apologize Dan, when it comes to longwinded, crackhead fellowships and good Columbian, I’m notoriously bad (or good …depending on your point of reference.)

          Thanks Dan!!

  15. Thanks for the blue link, congrats on one year of bloggging, and good luck with banishing Lady Nicotine from your life.

Captions? Blogging? That’s easy. “Smoking cessation?” That’s the real bitch.

Now as I understand it, all I have to do is beat myself…

“Linda was beginning to resent being called a ‘meter maid,’ and had become increasingly aggressive towards violators…”

Comment by Capitalist Lion Tamer | April 2, 2010 | Reply

    • Including pictures of you “beating yourself” are not necessary at this time.

      Comment by jammer5 | April 2, 2010 | Reply

    • It is a real bitch, especially since I decided to go all cold turkey. It tastes better. The only part that is bothering me is not being able to concentrate.

Right, all you have to do is beat yourself. But I meant more in the Chuck Palahniuk kind of way than the George Michael or even Michael Hutchence kind of way.

You’re caption is making you look strong for 3 in a row….

      Thanks CLT!!

Comment by Scott Oglesby | April 3, 2010 | Reply

  16. Congrats, CLT. From now on I will just go with whatever caption Mr. Lion Tamer comes up with. It’s a win/win.

Happy one year Anniversary, my Spaniard friend! Believe it or not, I started my blogging journey on the very same day you did.

    Coincedence? I think not….

    • You can’t go wrong riding the CLT money train. I gotta follow this guy to the craps table.

Coincidence? Holy shit! The same day? We’re not doppelgangers after all, we’re twins for realz! At least we don’t have to waste too much time figuring out who’s the evil one… That is seriously crazy B. Happy blogoversary to you too my twin!

      Thanks B!!

  17. Seeing the ‘parking by permit only’ sign, the truck decided to self destruct in the hopes it’d be completely gone prior to receiving another violation.

    Comment by jammer5 | April 2, 2010 | Reply

      Thanks Jammer!!

  18. It looks like that guy’s scrubs were ripped off his body by some angry nurses and he managed to make a bikini bottom with the leftover scraps.

Here’s my caption for the new photo:
“Honey, you better go move your truck, they’re outside towing again.”

    Comment by lianamerlo | April 3, 2010 | Reply
